After successfully starting immigration program for rural communities in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador provinces, Canada has now introduced Rural and Immigration Pilot program to boost economic activity by stimulating economic immigration of smaller communities.
Communities in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon are eligible to apply under the new IRCC system. Chosen communities then have the responsibility to identify job opportunities and chart out a plan to aid new immigrants to migrate. The last date to apply in the program is 1st March 2019.
The new economic immigration policy is planned to function similar to existing Atlantic Immigration policy and Provincial Nominee Program. The pilot program is going to start with limited communities included in it and its success will decide the future of this economic immigration strategy. This new Canada immigration program is aimed at French-speaking communities outside Quebec with a population of less than 50,000 near big cities or less than 200,000 in remote areas.
